Obtain an Online USGC Captain License in Ohio
In order to obtain an online USGC Captain License in Ohio, there are certain requirements that must be met. The first requirement is that the applicant must have a valid TWIC Card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). This card is issued by the Transportation Security Administration and verifies that the applicant has undergone a background check and is eligible to work on vessels regulated by the U.S. Coast Guard.
The second requirement is that applicants must successfully complete an approved course from an accredited maritime academy such as Atlantis Maritime Academy. Courses include topics related to navigation, seamanship, boat handling, safety, regulations, and more. Upon successful completion of the course, applicants will receive their Certificate of Completion which they can use to apply for their license.
Finally, applicants must pass both a written exam and a practical exam administered by the U.S. Coast Guard in order to obtain their license. The written or online exams cover topics such as navigation rules and regulations for inland waters or Great Lakes fishing charters on Lake Erie.
