In order to obtain an original U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s License, applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a minimum of 360 days of sea service within the past 5 years. Additionally, they must possess a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card and pass a drug test. Lastly, applicants must also meet certain educational requirements for the license type they are applying for.
