Understanding Louisiana’s Online 6 Pack License Course Requirements

The Louisiana Online 6 Pack License Course is an online course designed to prepare students for the Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) license, commonly referred to as the Six Pack License. This license allows individuals to operate a vessel with up to six passengers on board for hire in federal waters.

The course is offered through Atlantis Maritime Academy and consists of four modules: Navigation Rules and Regulations, Boat Handling & Safety Equipment, Marine Weather & Forecasting, and Chart Plotting. Each module contains multiple lessons which include text-based instruction as well as interactive activities such as quizzes and simulations. The entire course takes approximately 64 hours to complete and must be completed within 90 days of registration.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a certificate from Atlantis Maritime Academy which can be used when applying for the OUPV license from the United States Coast Guard National Maritime Center.
